One of the foremost memories of my childhood and even adulthood still are cartoons. Asides from the comic relief of laughing and being entertained, you also get to watch some superheroes like Power puff Girls, Superman, Wonder Woman do great things with their superpowers.

Sometimes, I find myself wondering if there could be an element of a superpower in me, I actually have been tempted to carry out a genetic test to confirm this.

The first step to discovering your superpower as an employee is to identify what people come to you for or compliment you about.

That very thing no matter how inconsequential it might seem is your superpower. People love coming to you for this thing because they know you will do an amazing job. The most important aspect, though, is that you enjoy helping people with this thing.

As you build your career, you probably will become more in tune with what your superpowers are. If you don’t, you will miss out on the opportunity to create leverage.

The easiest pointers that will drive you to your superpowers are your strength, focus, and passion. Your passions come from your subconscious, your focus is all about your ability to stay in the present moment, and your strengths are determined by the results you produce and the way others perceive those results.

Do the innate checking. Ask yourself;

• What did I do when I got that big pat on the back or commendation
• What activity do I often find myself volunteering for?
• When I lose track of time or forget to stop for lunch, what am I doing?
• What is it that I love to do, and what talents are behind this?

I often say that no one comes to earth with a life manual. Therefore, life is on a test and trial basis. One sure way for you to discover these innate superpowers is to ask your colleagues; make use of polls or even casual conversation.

Listen to remarks about you and explore. Yes, you have a job description but be flexible and try working on other things out of your job description or volunteering to help. This will help unveil your invincible Wonder Woman cape.
